Sofia Vergara has disclosed the reasons behind her unexpected divorce from her spouse Joe Manganiello. The 51-year-old actress made news when she split up with her partner of over 10 years.
In a new interview with El País, the star talked about her seven-year marriage and the causes that led to its end.
Vergara stated that her 10-year age difference with her spouse led to the breakup. She continued, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger. He wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom.”
Speaking about why she did not want to embrace motherhood again at 51, she stated, “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
The actress, who is already a mother to a 32-year-old son Manolo from her first husband Joe Gonzalez, stated that she is ready to embrace the role of grandmother instead of mother. She added, “I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while, and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do.”
