Everyone was ecstatic when veteran Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore made her big-screen debut lately in the Bengali film Puratawn. Actor Soha Ali Khan, Sharmila’s daughter, disclosed in a recent podcast with Nayandeep Rakshit that her mother lives alone in Delhi and recalled a time when she needed assistance from random people on the street to get to an event location.
Soha revealed that, in spite of Soha’s persistent appeals, Sharmila would rather remain in Delhi and is not yet prepared to return to Mumbai. She also discussed whether her mother intends to stay in the movie business after her return. Sharmila is presently unsure, according to Soha.
After declaring she would no longer work, she suddenly discovers a script that intrigues her. “She was going to a book launch and there was too much traffic, so she got out of her car and hailed a woman on a scooter and asked her to drop her closer to the venue,” Soha recalled, recalling one of her mother’s recent escapades. Then, in order to get close to the event, she got off the scooter, stopped a biker, and jumped on.
“Amma, you are eighty years old, and this is Delhi!” I said. “That person dropped me halfway, and I walked the rest of the way to the book launch,” Soha continued, quoting Sharmila.
Sharmila recently joined Soha in celebrating her birthday. Before throwing a cozy pyjama party for her girl gang at her house, the actress posted photos of herself with her mother and sister. Thankfully, Sharmila’s lung cancer was discovered at stage zero when it was diagnosed. As a result, the cancer was surgically removed and she was spared chemotherapy.
Following her recuperation, Suman Ghosh’s psychological drama Puratawn marked Sharmila’s eagerly anticipated comeback to Bengali film after an 18-year hiatus. Her performance was widely praised by critics, and the movie went on to become the fifth highest-grossing Bengali film of the year. The seasoned actor has not yet revealed what her upcoming project will be.
