The carmakers are pulling up their socks in response to the government’s announcement of a list of measures to support electric vehicles in the region. Although government regulations are gradually favouring electric vehicles, consumers are slowly but increasingly gravitating toward them. With earnings, consumption, and other considerations in mind, a slew of automakers are developing their own electric vehicles. Let’s take a look at some of the electric cars that will be available in India in 2021.
1. TESLA MODEL 3

By the end of the first half of fiscal year 2021-22, the long-awaited Tesla Model 3 electric car was available for purchase in the country. The latest model was available for booking from January 2021. The Model 3 comes with a single or dual motor option. The Normal Range and Standard Range Plus RWD models have a range of 423 kilometres.
2. MAHINDRA EKUV100

Before the end of this year, Mahindra will unveil the much-anticipated eKUV100 mini SUV. The upcoming electric mini SUV, which will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo, will cost Rs 8.25 lakh. A 40 kW electric motor generates 53 bhp and 120Nm of torque in the electric mini SUV. On a maximum charge, the micro Sedans 15.9 kWh lithium-ion rechargeable battery has a range of 120 kilometres. The eKUV100 would take approximately 1 hour to charge up to 80% using a DC quick charger.
3. TATA ALTROZ EV

Tata Motors plans to release an electric version of the Altroz sedan in India by the end of 2021. The Nexon EV’s drivetrain is likely to be shared. The Nexon EV has a 30.2kWh battery pack with a persistent AC motor that is IP67 approved. The Altroz EV is expected to have a radius of 250 to 300 kilometres. The battery can be fully loaded in 8 hours using a standard power socket and can be powered up to 80% in 60 minutes using the DC quick charger.
4.MARUTI WAGONR EV

In 2021, Maruti Suzuki will unveil the long-awaited WagonR-based electric vehicle. The electric vehicle was supposed to be released in 2020, but it has been postponed due to a lack of charging facilities. The EV is predicted to have a range of 130-180 kilometres in real-world conditions. It would take approximately 1 hour to recharge to 80% capacity.
5. HYUNDAI KONA

Hyundai has unveiled the 2021 Kona electric, which will go on sale in the later half of 2021 in the country. The SUV has an unique closed grille, new LED DRLs, new headlamps, and new rear lights, among other style updates. A bigger 10.25-inch optical instrument console has been added to the new Kona Electric. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with mobile access and Hyundai Bluelink connected car technologies is fully available. The long-range variant comes with a 64kWh battery and an electric motor that produces 204PS and 395Nm of torque. This model speeds up from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 7.9 seconds and has a class-leading range of 484 kilometres on a single battery charge.
