Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, known for their cheerful social media presence and playful chemistry, have often been admired as one of Bollywood’s happiest couples. But before their 2024 wedding, the pair experienced a challenging phase in their long-term relationship, something Sonakshi has now spoken about openly.
During her appearance on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, Sonakshi addressed the often-discussed “seven-year itch.” She clarified that their experience was quite different, admitting, “I feel I had a three-year itch.” She recalled that around the third year of dating, both she and Zaheer found themselves constantly irritated with one another. “We just wanted to pull each other’s hair out,” she said, adding that they struggled to understand each other’s point of view despite their efforts.
Recognising the strain, it was Zaheer who suggested trying couples therapy. According to Sonakshi, he told her, “I want this relationship to work no matter what. I’ve heard about this, so let’s give it a shot.” She agreed, and the two soon began therapy sessions.
To her surprise, the change was quick. “Two sessions and we were back on track,” Sonakshi shared. Therapy helped them grasp each other’s communication styles, learn not to take things personally, and understand the intention behind words rather than the tone alone.
