Sonakshi Sinha has always preferred to keep her personal life away from the spotlight, and a recent conversation has offered a rare glimpse into how long she managed to do just that. The actor, who married Zaheer Iqbal in June 2024, dated him for seven years before the two made their relationship public through their wedding.
The couple recently appeared on Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, joined by Sonakshi’s mother, Poonam Sinha. During the light-hearted chat, Farah asked when Poonam first realised that Sonakshi and Zaheer were more than just friends. Poonam’s reply surprised many, as she revealed that she remained unaware of their relationship for nearly five years.
Recalling a key moment, Poonam shared that the couple travelled together to see the Northern Lights, where Zaheer eventually proposed to Sonakshi. When Farah pointed out that the proposal came after years of dating, Poonam admitted she had no idea about their long-standing romance at the time.
Sonakshi, however, playfully corrected her mother, saying she was the first person she confided in and jokingly accused her of not informing her father. Poonam later added that she began sensing something when she noticed Sonakshi going out of her way to help Zaheer with small tasks.
Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot on June 23, 2024 the same date their relationship began years earlier. After the ceremony, the couple celebrated with an intimate gathering for close friends and family, marking the end of a love story they had quietly protected for years.
