Squid Game fame O Yeong-Su faces 1 year prison term in sexual harassment case: Report

Oh Young Soo, the actor from Squid Game, faces one year in jail for sexual harassment. In the famous South Korean series, the 79-year-old actor portrayed the character of Oh Il-nam. He has been accused of groping and kissing a woman in 2017. On February 2, South Korean media reported that Oh Young Soo’s prosecutors had asked for a year in prison. For those who were unaware, the actor was charged with sexual assault in November 2022 after a lady filed a case against him in December 2021.

The accuser requested that the case be reopened after it had been dismissed in April 2022. The Suwon District Prosecutors Office’s Seongnam office asked for a year in prison for the actor during his trial on Friday and suggested that he be banned from working with children and young stars.

“He avoided his responsibility, saying the victim was ‘like a daughter to him’, though the victim asked for an apology, making the victim frustrated,”  the officer stated, according to The Straits Times.

The Squid Game star denied every claim made during the investigation. In a statement shared with Korean broadcaster JTBC, the South Korean actor said that he had just held the woman’s hand and later apologized. However, he denied the accusations.
