Hyderabad turned into a festival ground on Saturday evening as thousands of fans gathered at Ramoji Film City for the much-awaited reveal of SS Rajamouli’s next film, now officially titled Varanasi. The scale of the event matched the filmmaker’s reputation, with crowds pouring in from across the world while others tuned in through JioHotstar and international platforms.
Rajamouli, announcing his first film after the global success of RRR, surprised fans with a powerful visual that confirmed the title. A massive screen was set up for the reveal, and the film’s team leaned into the “traveller” theme by handing fans special “passports” instead of regular passes. The excitement grew as several fans arrived in a bike rally and many waved posters specially designed for the occasion.
The first glimpse of Varanasi left the audience stunned. Mahesh Babu appears blood-soaked, clutching a trident and riding a bull through a temple landscape. The final frames tease the film’s biggest mystery, hinting at a time travel story with #GlobeTrotter and #TimeTrotter flashing on the screen.
The event became even more star-studded with the presence of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, all receiving thunderous applause. Shruti Haasan’s performance added to the spectacle. Priyanka plays Mandakini, while Prithviraj takes on the antagonist’s role as Kumbha, both of whose looks were revealed earlier. With Rajamouli returning after his Oscar-winning RRR, Varanasi has already created massive anticipation worldwide.
