Rose Matafeo, Nikesh Patel, and Minnie Driver all appear in the BBC comedy series Starstruck, which was co-written by Matafeo and Alice Snedden and directed by Karen Maine. Before the first series debuted, a second was ordered. Series One made its debut on April 25, 2021, while Series Two debuted on February 2, 2022. A third season of the show was ordered in June 2022. The television show garnered favourable reviews.
In real life, Sidi and Matafeo share an apartment in London. The narrative was partially inspired by a group of Matafeo’s Kiwi friends who met a well-known Hollywood star in a London pub one night and spent the entire evening with him. The COVID-19 epidemic delayed the start of filming from March 2020 until October 2020.
The television show won praise from critics. It was a “expertly crafted old-school screwball comedy, crackling with wit and sexual chemistry,” according to The Times. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has a 100% rating.
On June 10, 2021, the day the streaming network’s Starstruck made its premiere, HBO Max made the announcement that it had been picked up for a second season. For series two, a new cast member named Russell Tovey has been revealed. The series’ third season was confirmed to be renewed in June 2022. Matafeo posted pictures from the shoot to her Instagram in January 2023.
The first season of Starstruck began airing in the UK on BBC One on April 26, 2021 and was made available in its entirety on BBC iPlayer on April 25, 2021. It aired on ABC TV in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand. HBO Max premiered Series 1 on June 10, 2021. The whole second season of Series 2 was made available online on BBC iPlayer on February 7, 2022.

What is Starstruck about
‘Starstruck’ chronicles the life of Jessie, a millennial who lives in East London and is played by Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning comedian, writer, and actor Rose Matafeo. She balances her two jobs in order to pay for the pricey flat she and her closest friend Kate share. She meets up with Tom on New Year’s Eve and quickly learns that he is a well-known movie actor. Even if their worlds could not be more dissimilar from one another, fate continues drawing them together in the most unlikely situations.
