The government of Haryana passed a Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill that provides 75% reservation of jobs in the private sector for locals on March 2.
Startups have criticized this move of the government stating that implementation of this bill will force entrepreneurs to shift their business operations someplace else. The bill will be applicable for a period of 10 years and is enforced to tackle the rising unemployment in the state.
Startup entrepreneurs believe that the bill would hamper the progress of the business.
Info Edge founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani expressed his opinion saying that restricting labour is not a “good move.” Entrepreneur Sameer Sharma, Paytm founder Vijay Sharma, PhonePe CEO Sameer Nigam are some of the names that expressed their criticism with concerns for startups and small businesses.
