Disturbing news has surfaced from an Andhra Pradesh engineering institution regarding the purported discovery of a hidden camera in the women’s hostel lavatory. students claim that the camera had been covertly filming them, releasing videos that were eventually sold to certain students after being leaked. Students are outraged over the occurrence at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishnan district, and Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh has demanded an investigation into it.
It is said that yesterday evening, a group of female students discovered the hidden camera in their bathroom, causing immediate panic and anxiety. After hearing of the finding, students planned a disorderly protest that started at 7 p.m. and lasted till this morning. They were demanding answers and accountability, and their screams of “We want justice” echoed around the campus.
Police arrested a senior student from the guys’ hostel in connection with the incident. His laptop and phone were seized, but no leaked videos have been discovered yet.
“We did not find any cameras hidden in the girls hostels during our probe. We searched the suspected student laptops, mobile phones and other devices in front of the students and college staff. No videos were found. Girl Students need not worry,” Krishna District SP Gandadhar Rao stated.
The presence of the hidden camera, as well as the subsequent exposure of sensitive footage, has alarmed many female students. Many people have mentioned fear and concern with using the restrooms, and some have even avoided the area entirely. Earlier this month, patrons at a popular coffee shop in Bengaluru discovered a phone stashed in the women’s washroom garbage for recording videos. A content creator reported the event, saying he found the camera in a bag with a hole in it and was constantly capturing a video.
