
- German football club VfB Stuttgart striker known as Silas Wamangituka, voted rookie of the season for 2021 has been playing under fictitious name and age. The stated documents makes him look a year older than his actual name. Bundesliga attaker, born in DR Congo is actually Silas Katompa Mvumpa and was born in October 6, 1998.
Wikipedia recently today added in “Controversy” section that on 8 June 2021 which is today, the player revealed his last name to be Katompa Mvumpa and not Wamangituka and he is one year older than written in stated documents.
The striker told that VfB Stuttgart and his new agent helped him in revealing the truth to the world about this. Club Stuttgart don’t expect any sanctions against them and believes that he has his valid license to be represented as. They stated that player has been victim of manipulation and was told by an agent in Belgium that he won’t be able to return to Europe if he returns to the African country while Silas was very young and trusted him. He neither had access to his account nor the documents. The agent then changed his identity surname and his birth year to 1999.
“I have lived with being constantly afraid over the last few years and have been very tensed for my family in Congo. It was very hard to reveal my true identity and story. I am very relieved now and I believe I can encourage other players, who are been going through similar experience with agents. I am thankful for the club for their trust and support towards me during this time”, said Katompa Mvumpa.
The club said that they were looking into the new documents and got contacted with local authorities for this about the player. This has been informed to the football federation of Germany.
