Supreme Court issues notice to Future group to stall Reliance deal

On Monday, the Supreme Court of India issued a notice to Future Retail on Amazons’ plea ‘to maintain status quo’ on a deal with Reliance Industries (RIL).

Amazon filed a plea in the Supreme Court after Delhi HC revoked a decision that blocked the deal.

Amazon had invested in Future group coupons in 2019 according to which it could buy Future Retail after a period of three to 10 years.

In August 2020, Future group signed a 24,713 crore deal to sell retail, wholesale, logistics and warehousing units to Reliance Industries.
