The Supreme Court has issued a show cause notice against comedian Kunal Kamra and cartoonist Rachita Taneja for their criticism of the top court in their various tweets and illustrations. The court has given them 6 weeks to respond to the notice and show why actions shouldn’t be taken against them for “scandalizing the judiciary” in separate cases.
However, the bench has exempted them to appear in the court personally. Earlier, K. K. Venugopal had called cartoonist Rachita Taneja illustrations a “gross insinuation” of the top court.
