Sushil Kumar’s request for special food and supplements in jail denied; Delhi court says all are equal before law

Sushil Kumar, the Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar who has been accused of murder, appealed for special food and supplements in prison, which the Delhi court denied proving that everyone is equal in the eyes of law.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar had accosted the Rohini court claiming that the special food and supplements were an extreme essential for him to maintain his health and performance as he hopes to continue his wrestling career in the future. He wanted supplements that included isolate whey protein, omega 3 capsules, joint maintenance capsules, pre-workout C4 and hyde, multivitamin GNC, and exercise bands in the prison to maintain his physique and physical strength.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satvir Singh Lamba demystified his plea saying that the special foods and supplements he requested are only desires of his and are not in any way an essential need or necessity for his survival. It was noted that the basic needs and necessities that are required by Sushil Kumar are being provided in jail without any discrimination as per the provisions of Delhi Prisons Rule, 2018.

The law specifies that irrespective of caste, religion, sex, class every person whether natural or juristic is equal in the eyes of law which implies that no special privileges will be given to a person notwithstanding his or her rank, status, whether rich or poor mentioned Satvir Singh Lamba in the order.
