Swiggy launched a new feature! Now NRIs can order food and book restaurant tables in India

Swiggy has launched International Logins, a feature that enables users from 27 countries—including the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, and the UAE—to book restaurant tables for friends, family, or anyone else in India, as well as order food and even items from its quick commerce offering Instamart.

According to the food delivery giant’s press release on Friday, October 25, 2024, these users can access all of its features, including food delivery, Dineout, Genie, and Instamart, by logging in with their respective international numbers and paying with international credit cards or available UPI options.

The holiday season serves as the setting for this. According to Phani Kishan, co-founder and CGO of Swiggy, “food and gifts are essential to family gatherings, especially during festivals.” “Those who live overseas can now surprise their loved ones on special occasions with International Login.”

NRIs have long sought the functionality, according to Swiggy, and they will receive a new giving layout that will make it simpler for them to send festive gifts or book meal reservations back home. Founded in 2014 in Bengaluru, Swiggy now works with almost two lakh restaurants in more than 600 Indian locations. Instamart delivers groceries and other necessities in over 20 categories in around ten minutes and operates in forty-three cities.

On September 26, 2024, the business submitted its draft documents for a ₹3,750 crore IPO, which included an offer for sale (OFS) of 185,286,265 equity shares and a new issue of 37,500 million equity shares with a face value of ₹1 apiece. However, according to a Reuters article, it reduced its valuation projections by 10–16% for the forthcoming IPO in November, citing market uncertainty.
