On June 11, Tata Motors informed about the supply of 25 Winger ambulances to the health department of Gujarat. The state government had placed an order of 115 ambulances with the company.
Tata Motors stated in a release that the ambulances are equipped with basic life-support and will be deployed for the transportation of patients in Gandhinagar. The order comprises 24 basic life-support ambulances and 90 ambulance shells.
The Winger ambulance is designed and can be customized for all kinds of patient transportation, including basic and advanced life-support range. It is particularly engineered for COVID-19 patient transportation with a driver partition. Its modular underpinnings and monocoque chassis with the independent suspension offers a smooth driving experience, which is vital for the swift transportation of patients.
Vinay Pathak, the Vice President of Product Line Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) at Tata Motors said, “The Winger ambulance is designed keeping in focus the needs of the patient and the healthcare system. Tata Motors is firmly committed to bringing top-notch healthcare mobility solutions to hospitals and healthcare facilities in the country and support the governments in their fight against this pandemic.”
Under the Government e-Marketplace, the automobile manufacturing company had won the bid for the order. According to the AIS 125 Part 1, these vehicles are designed for patient transport.
The inauguration ceremony of the official vehicle took place in the capital city of Gandhinagar. Several dignitaries from the Gujarat State Cabinet such as Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Health Minister Kishor Kamani and Principal Secretary Jayanti S. Ravi attended the event.
