For Season 2, The Afterparty is returning. The genre-defying murder mystery programme on Apple TV+ is back with a fresh murder to solve and a new ensemble of characters. Although Tiffany Haddish will reprise her role as Detective Danner, the show will primarily focus on brand-new individuals.
A Quick Recap
Aniq Adjaye (Sam Richardson), an escape room designer, was the main suspect in the murder of actor Xavier (Dave Franco) in Season 1 after a high school reunion turned fatal. Every episode of the season featured a distinct genre as we witnessed the many events of the evening being narrated through the eyes of each witness. There were animated films, musicals, psychological suspense stories, teen dramas, and more. Yasper (Ben Schwartz), a close friend of Aniq and a former bandmate of Xavier, is ultimately identified as the real murderer.
Zo (Zoe Chao), Aniq’s sweetheart in Season 1, will return in Season 2. Aniq and Zo attend the wedding of her sister, but the groom is later discovered dead. Detective Danner is back on the investigation, and when she speaks with each visitor, there will be a variety of new fun genres to provide variety to the ongoing whodunit. The show’s lifeblood, which depends on its distinct take on the murder mystery show not going boring when the show is increased from eight episodes to 10, is also put to the test in Season 2. It will be interesting to see whether The Afterparty adopts a novel twist or keeps to its tried-and-true structure.
