At the Global Fintech Fest 2024 on Wednesday, Airtel Payments Bank collaborated with Noise and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to unveil a smartwatch that supports National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) technology. The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch includes an inbuilt RuPay chip, allowing users to make transactions from their wrists. It was introduced as a payments-plus-fitness remedy, featuring health and fitness tracking elements integrated in.
Features of The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch
The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch includes an embedded RuPay chip in the dial enabling direct, on-the-go payments, according to a press release. It also has NCMC integration, which allows for tap and pay transactions. The smartwatch now accepts payments at merchant sites and on transportation systems throughout India, including the metro, buses, and parking facilities, thanks to this connectivity. Users can turn on/off contactless payments from their smartwatch. It can also consider the provision of transport concessions and monthly passes, as relevant. Users can also pay at contactless terminals without entering their PIN, up to a limit of Rs 5,000. Payments over and beyond the aforementioned limit will necessitate the entry of the PIN number.
The new Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch also has standard health and fitness monitoring functions including blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure measurement. It is also said to be capable of tracking 130 sports modes, and users may personalise it with over 150 cloud-based watch faces. The smartwatch also enables Bluetooth calling and is dust and water resistant up to IP68 standards. Airtel claims it has a TFT LCD screen with 550nits brightness.
When connected to a smartphone, it displays notifications, call reminders, and messages, just like other smartwatches do. The Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch has a battery life of up to ten days on one charge.
Price of The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch
The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch cost in India is still unknown, but the company says it is going to be open to sale soon through the bank’s online and retail channels.
