The manufacturers of Sputnik V have agreed to give the Russian anti-Covid vaccine to Delhi, according to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, although the quantity has yet to be determined.
He also stated that there are approximately 620 cases of black fungus, also known as mucormycosis, in the city, but that Amphotericin-B injections, which are used to treat it, are in limited supply.
‘Sputnik V’s creators are being contacted. They will provide vaccinations, but the quantity will be determined later. On Tuesday, our officials and representatives from vaccine makers met as well,’ the CM told reporters.
He also added that vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer are both suitable for children and that the Central government should buy these jabs to vaccinate children during the unveiling of Delhi’s first drive-through vaccination clinic at Vegas Mall in Dwarka. Earlier on Friday, he has stated that a government-run drive-through vaccination centre will open in Chhatrasal.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported that during the pandemic, more than 22 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been distributed to states and union territories (UTs).
“The government of India has so far delivered more than 22 crore vaccine doses (22,00,59,880) to States and UTs, both through the free of cost category and through direct state purchase,” according to an official release from the ministry.
