Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, welcomed his first full studio audience since the outbreak of the Pandemic on Monday. Overwhelmed by the response after a long break since March 2020, Fallon choked up for a few moments at the beginning of the show, before moving on to roasting Jeff Bezos and Logan Paul.
Fallon, who opened the show to the audience at a reduced capacity back in March 2021, welcomed the audience to a full capacity back to the studio, offering them comedy, celebrities, music, and more importantly – ‘air conditioning. After his opening monologue, which addressed the heatwave that had gripped the United States, Fallon turned to Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, who was making headlines once again. Taking a dig at Bezos’ recent announcement about him flying aboard his company’s first manned rocket to space sometime next month, Fallon joked about how Bezos might be the first person in space to look down at Earth and say he could actually see his house from up there.
Fallon’s digs at Jeff Bezos did not stop there. Talking about Amazon’s recent acquisition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Fallon joked about how most people bought new bathing suits, or probably even hard seltzer after the country reopened, but how Bezos could buy James Bond and a ticket to space. He also quipped about the safety of Bezos’ trip to space aboard his company’s first manned rocket to space, saying that he will be packed by the same people who ship Amazon products.
Later as a part of the monologue, Fallon discussed the infamous boxing match that was held on Sunday between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul, which was criticized widely as ‘boring’. Taking a subtle dig at the match, Fallon asked the audience who missed the match to see highlights of the same by googling ‘Men hugging for money’. The late-night show host also joked how the match resulted in a draw, and that the only loser was everyone who had to pay 50 bucks to watch the fake fight.
