Australia test skipper Tim Paine has apologized to New Zealand fans for writing against the Kiwis before their World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India.

Captain Paine had predicted that India would comfortably beat New Zealand in the World Test Championship final, only to be ridiculed on social media as the Black Caps won by eight wickets, claiming the ICC test Championship Mace and USD 1.6 million prize money.

“We all get some wrong. I copped a bit from the Kiwi fans, so I thought I’d come on air and eat some humble pie,” Paine told the New Zealand radio station. He added “I thought the New Zealanders played outstandingly. It’s always a pleasure to watch the way they go about it.

“For such a small nation — I’m from Tasmania which is obviously our smallest resource state and we punch above our weight — so I certainly respect what the Kiwis do on an international stage.”

Paine’s led Australia were beaten by 2-1 during summer in India tour of Australia in a four-match test series, wherein last match India won by three wickets with 18 balls left. and Rishabh Pant was awarded as Man of the match and Pat Cummins was awarded as Player of the series.
