Timothée Chalamet, known for his distinct sense of style and eco-conscious choices, had an unexpected experience while heading to the London premiere of A Complete Unknown. In an appearance on the French talk show Quotidien, Chalamet shared that he was fined £65 (around $79) for improperly parking a Lime bike. Despite the penalty, the actor defended his environmentally friendly choice, stating, “It’s ecological!”
Chalamet opted for the bike to avoid the heavy traffic in the area, saying, “It was horrible, because it was actually kind of an advert for them,” referring to the bike-sharing service. The premiere, held at BFI Southbank, marked the debut of A Complete Unknown, a biopic about Bob Dylan, in which Chalamet stars as the iconic musician.
The film delves into Dylan’s early years, exploring his arrival in New York City in 1961 and his rapid rise to fame. Alongside Chalamet, the film boasts a talented cast, including Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo. Chalamet’s portrayal of Dylan earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
Reflecting on working with Edward Norton, Chalamet shared how their collaboration added a layer of authenticity to the film. “We were like a menace to Jim because we were always trying to sneak stuff in and honor these amazing artists,” he recalled, highlighting their mutual respect for Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger.
Complete Unknown has been widely praised for its portrayal of the 1960s Greenwich Village music scene and Bob Dylan’s evolution into a cultural icon.
