Sunday was a very bad day for the Indian Hockey Mens’s Team at Tokyo Olympics, as they had to face a crushing defeat against the strong Australia. Kangaroo team trampled India by 7-1. Despite getting six penalty corners, India could not convert a single opportunity into a goal. This is India’s first defeat in two matches. Manpreet Singh’s team started their campaign after beating New Zealand 3-2.

Apart from a brief break in the first quarter, India could never hold on to Australia. Australia scored a goal in the first quarter, but in the second half of the first half, they played very aggressive hockey and on sight made the score 4-0. Australia scored two more goals in the third quarter, although India also managed to score one goal in the game.

Indian fans need not be disappointed, as they still have three matches left. The next game will be played against Spain at 6.30 am on Tuesday, then the Indian men’s hockey team will face Japan and Argentina. Australia did not give India any chance to return in this match.
