The Halloween season is here, which means we’ve already seen 9 months of 2023, all of which have been jam-packed with amazing horror movies. So let’s take a look at some best horror movies of 2023.
‘M3GAN’
Due to her extremely creepy mannerisms and dances, the robotic doll quickly became a social media sensation. It was absolutely not an excellent plan to build an AI-enhanced doll specifically to befriend a little child.
‘Evil Dead Rise’
The latest delightfully demented “Evil Dead” movie revolves around an LA family, where teenage curiosity unlocks the Book of the Dead, unleashing evil demonic forces once again. The possessed, tormenting mother played by Alyssa Sutherland is an amazingly violent piece of work, there’s one great use of a cheese grater, and the endlessly horrific ending is a must-watch.
‘Sick’
A horror film set amid the height of COVID lockdowns might be difficult to sell, however, this slasher from the Scream franchise provides an exciting experience full of twists and turns. When Parker (Gideon Adlon) and her closest friend Miri (Beth Woodlow) get an unexpected (sinister) visitor, they choose to quarantine together in a remote lake house.
‘Infinity Pool’
In this horror film, a wealthy couple is enjoying their luxurious island vacation until a deadly accident causes everything to turn weird. Like clones and creepy animal masks weird. Big Little Lies’ Alexander Skarsgård co-stars with Mia Goth, who is shaping up to be quite the scream queen following 2022’s X and Pearl.
‘Fear’
Consider a horror film that directly addresses your greatest fear—we assume it would be scary, which is why Fear made our list. The plot of this film is around a group of friends whose cabin getaway turns into a nightmare. The gang is infected by a contagious airborne threat, which brings their greatest nightmares to reality.
‘It Lives Inside’
In this stunning coming-of-age twist on the possession subgenre, a young girl’s high school life is terrible enough without having to cope with a mythological demon. Sam (Megan Suri) is a youngster who has shunned her Indian heritage in order to fit in better with her friends, but she must accept it in order to save an ex-best friend who is possessed by a dark spirit that assaults anybody who attempts to help.
‘The Outwaters’
This relentless found-footage film is for horror fans with iron stomachs since it’s packed with horrific blood and gore scenes (and sound effects). The premise is that four friends go into the desert to film a music video and discover something horrible along the way.
‘Scream VI’
Sisters Sam and Tara travel to New York City in the latest instalment of the Scream franchise in the hopes of establishing an entirely new life. Of course, the Ghostface killer follows. This masked murderer is different from previous versions you’ve seen and appears to be far more relentless in hunting down his victims.
‘The Pope’s Exorcist’
Something about demonic exorcisms is very frightening, therefore a movie following the cases of a real-life exorcist seems terrifying. This film recounts the life of Father Gabriele Amorth, portrayed by Russell Crowe, the Vatican’s chief exorcist who performed over 100,000 exorcisms throughout his lifetime.
‘The Exorcist: Believer’
A sequel to The Exorcist, which debuted 50 years ago, will be released in 2023. Although nothing is known about the narrative, if it is even nearly as terrifying as the original, The Exorcist 2023 will undoubtedly be a hit.
