10. Chartered Accountant Exam
If you want to become a Chartered Accountant then you need to clear the CA exams. The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) conducts the CA Exams. The exam has 3 levels-
- CA Foundation
- CA Intermediate
- CA Final
Candidates need to clear all the 3 levels for becoming a certified Chartered Accountant.
9. CLAT
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The candidates who clear the examination are taken into masters & bachelors law programmes. The scores in CLAT are accepted by NLU’s as well as other law colleges. Approx 60,000 to 1 lakh students appear for examination but only 3000 are admitted in NLU’s.
8. UGC-NET
University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test is an examination conducted for recruiting Assistant Professors & Junior Research Fellowship for Universities in India. The vast syllabus makes the exam hard to crack.
7. NEET
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET is conducted for admission in medical programmes for government & private colleges across India. 13 to 15 lakh students appear for the examination every year.
6. National Institute of Design Entrance Examination
National Institute of Design conducts the entrance examination for its Bachelor of Design & Master of Design programme. The candidates have to clear NID DAT Prelims & NID DAT Main. The exam syllabus focuses on the design & creative thinking.
5. NDA Examination
National Defence Academy exam picks out the candidates for Army, Navy & Airforce. The candidates have to go through a written examination, psychological aptitude test, intelligence test, personality test & an interview. The hardest part is the interview where half of the candidates are dumped.
4. CAT
Common Admission/Entrance Test is an examination for selecting candidates for the MBA programme. CAT scores are accepted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) & other business schools.
3. GATE
Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is an entrance examination for masters & doctoral degrees in Engineering & Sciences. The exam scores are accepted by the Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology & many other institutions.
2. IIT-JEE Entrance Examination
JEE is a joint examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) for their undergraduate programmes. IIT’s are the most prestigious institutes for Engineering in the country. The exam has 2 levels- JEE Main & JEE Advanced. The candidates have to clear both levels to get into IITs. Apart from IIT’s the rank in JEE is also accepted by other Engineering institutions.
1. UPSC Civil Service Entrance Examination [IAS]
UPSC civil service entrance examination is the toughest exam in India. The syllabus of the exam is vast but concise. The exam has 3 levels-
- Preliminary Exam
- Main Exam
- InterviewInterview
Almost 8-10 lakh students appear for the exam. The candidates who clear all the 3 levels are then offered posts of IAS, IPS, IFS etc.
