Top 5 things to do in Shimla

The queen of hills is calling you for a summer trip! Know what to do when you visit Shimla.

Shimla, the state capital of Himachal Pradesh, is a small town at the foot of the Himalayas. This charming hamlet is situated on a short border that encompasses a diverse range of cultures of various ages and is distinct from the rest of the country. We chose our favourite activities and sights.

Try hiking or trekking.

Because of its location at the foot of the Himalayan mountains, the town is great for taking in the scenery. Walking excursions and day treks up and around the mountains are available from a number of locations. The scenery is spectacular, and many visitors come specifically for the purpose of trekking.

Rothney Castle is worth a visit.

The naturalist Allan Octavian Hume, who formed the Indian National Congress in 1885, lived at Rothney Castle on Jakhoo Hill.
Ornithology, the study of birds, is named after him. The castle once housed the world’s biggest collection of stuffed Asiatic birds, which was ultimately donated to the British Museum.

Visit Himcraft for good shopping.

Himcraft is a business that sells handcrafted things manufactured by residents in the area, with a focus on Himalayan art forms.
They sell scarves, gloves, caps, footwear, jewellery, and paintings, among other things. These items, made from natural materials and of the highest quality, are ideal for the weather in the region or as gifts for family and friends back home.

Visit the Himalayan Bird Park to see the birds.

The Himalayan Bird Park is a tiny park with a diverse array of exotic birds. The monal pheasant, which is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh, is the most notable native bird found in the park. The park also has a large collection of uncommon flora.

Grab a snack at Wake and Bake

Wake and Bake is the ideal pit-stop for a bite and a cup of coffee after a day of trekking and touring. You’re likely to find something to satisfy your hunger on the menu, which offers anything from pizza to hummus.

When it comes to the perfect summer weekend getaway, Shimla is the one that people settle for. The beauty of hills to the beauty of the cold hallow breeze, if the heaven lies in the lap of the mountains, it is here.
