The Macallan Red Collection stars the six highly aged Macallan whiskies. The collection also includes two of the oldest ever released by the distillery a 74-Year-Old and a 78-Year-Old whisky. The labels are illustrated and signed by Spanish artist Javi Anarez. There are only two such collections on the globe. In November 2020 at Sotheby’s London, the Macallan Red Collection was sold for $975,756.
6. The Macallan Lalique Six Pillars Collection

The Macallan Lalique Six Pillars Collection contains a set of six crystal decanters made by the honoured French glassmaker and jeweller Lalique. The fine glass bottles contain some of the rarest of The Macallan’s single malts aged from 50 to 65 years old. Each bottle of whisky is highly precious but in 2017 something incredible happened. In April 2017 at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, the Six Macallan Lalique whisky bottles, with six pairs of the Macallan Lalique glasses this ultra-rare collection was sold for $993,000.
5. The Macallan Peter Blake 1926 60-Year-Old

Sold for: $1.04m
The Macallan Peter Blake 1926 60-Year-Old is the first whisky on the list from The Macallan’s famous cask #263. The Macallan teamed up with pop artist Sir Peter Blake to design the label. Peter is famous for his album cover for The Beatles. In May 2018 at Bonhams in Hong Kong, The Macallan Peter Blake 1926 60 Year Old came up for auction and was sold for $1.04 million.
4. The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60-Year-Old

Macallan made the second release of 12 bottles from its Macallan 60-year-old collection. Italian painter Valerio Adami designed the label of the bottle. There were only 12 bottles produced & it was rumoured that one bottle was destroyed in the Japanese earthquake which made it rarer. In February 2020, a single bottle was put up for an online auction & the whisky bottle was sold for $1.07 million.
3. Hanyu Ichiro’s Full Card Series

Hanyu Ichiro’s Full Card Series is an ultrarare Japanese whiskies collection. This is the most expensive set of Japanese whisky ever sold. The Hanyu Ichiro’s Full Card Series includes 54 bottles, each representing a playing card in a deck. The story behind this collection is very interesting. In 1941, Isouji Akuto established a Hanyu distillery. He belonged to a long lineage of sake brewers. The Hanyu distillery was ceased in the year 2000. Akuto’s grandson conserved 400 casks of fine whisky from the distillery. From these casks, he hand-selected each whisky, which was then released between 2005 and 2014 to make the Full Card.
2. The Macallan Michael Dillon 1926 660-Year-Old

Sold for: $1.53m
This is one of the few remaining bottles from cask #263. The bottle belongs to the prized 60-Year-Old collection. It was hand-painted by the famous Irish artist Michael Dillon. In November 2018 at Christie’s in London this bottle of whisky became the first whisky to be sold for a price above $1 million. It was approximately sold for $1.53 million & is now the second most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction.

The Macallan Fine and Rare 60-Year-Old is the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction. In 2019 at Sotheby’s in London it was sold for a record-breaking $1.9m. There are only 14 bottles of Macallan Fine and Rare 60-Year-Old in the world. This bottle of whisky is considered the founding father of The Macallan Fine and Rare series. The series is a collection of 57 vintage single-malt whiskies produced by the distillery over eight decades. This is the most prestigious whisky collection in the world.
