Cyrus S. Poonawalla is known as the King of Vaccines & is the founder of the Serum Institute of India. He is the chairman of Poonawalla Group. Cyrus Poonawalla was born in a Parsi family. His father was a horse breeder & had connections in the Horse racing circuit. In 1966, Cyrus founded the Serum Institute of India, to make vaccines at a cheaper rate. In 1994, WHO recognised the Serum Institute of India. In 2020, the Serum Institute of India has become a leading supplier of Vaccines.

1. Along with my passion for horse breeding, I was a horse racing enthusiast… In 1974 I was elected as a committee member and subsequently as a steward of the Turf Club. I had a burning desire to clean up the sport, which had always carried the stigma of gambling and manipulation.
