Iga Swiatek, who is ranked first, defeated Laura Siegemund 6-0, 6-1 in the Poland Open final to claim her fourth title of the year and her first at home.
Over the course of the competition, the French Open winner did not lose a set. Swiatek also won this year in Doha and Stuttgart.
Swiatek only reached the final earlier on Sunday after defeating Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium in her quarterfinal match, 6-1, 7-6 (6). At 6-1, 5-5, that match was called off on Saturday night because of darkness. In the 68-minute final, Swiatek had a much easier time, breaking her German opponent five times and never having to face a breakpoint.
“I want to thank my team and my family. It’s not easy to play in Warsaw, but I’m so happy that we could manage and do everything we could today, after a pretty tiring day yesterday,” the Polish player said. She added, “I wanted to put it all in and go for it. I’m pretty happy that I did.”
