The recently divorced couple promised their five children—Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 6—that they would “work together as loving parents.” Jack, a son who is 24 years old, is also a child of McDermott and his ex-girlfriend Mary Jo Eustace.
Dean, 56, posted a statement to Instagram on Saturday, revealing that he and his ex-wife had separated. He also uploaded a flashback photo of the couple together and a shot with four of their kids. After 18 years of marriage and the birth of five wonderful children, he wrote: “It is with tremendous regret and a very heavy heart that I have decided to part ways with @torispelling and embark on a new adventure of my own.”
He further added, “We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness.”
Star of Beverly Hills, 90210 Tori Spelling, 50, the daughter of the late film producer Aaron Spelling, has not yet spoken out about the divorce. After years of rumours that the power couple was divorcing, they finally announced their separation just one day ago when Tori tweeted a photo of them with their kids.
She wrote: “Family time is the best time and @beverlyhilton you continue to always make us feel like true family. Thank you for your hospitality.” She expressed gratitude to the Beverly Hills hotel. We adore you. xoxo.’
Prior to meeting Dean, Tori wed the actor Charlie Shanian in 2004, but the union ended in divorce in 2006. When they were both married to other people and were working on a Lifetime movie in 2005, Tori and Dean first connected and started dating. On May 7, 2006, the celebrities wed in a secret ceremony in Fiji, little than a month after Tori’s divorce from Charlie was finalised and following Dean’s breakup with Mary.
Over the years, the couple was subjected to news about their financial woes and divorce rumours, yet they managed to stay together. They also appeared in the 2007–2012 reality television programme Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Tori and Dean live together as a family for the benefit of their children, but they sleep in different rooms of the same house, a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time. When it comes to their interactions, Tori is more outspoken, whereas Dean is just plain depressed.
The insider stated, “Dean has been caught in so many lies and infidelities over the years, and Tori is just over it,” adding that the two celebrities were “very much struggling.” A different insider provided an update on their relationship to ET in March of this year and said, “They are still trying to make it work.”
Marriage counselling has been a significant part of how they are attempting to sort things out, and so far, it’s gone reasonably well, the insider added. “Their children are doing fine.” Everyone is doing their hardest to keep things afloat, live as normally as they can, and maintain their happiness.
Tori’s father Aaron passed away in 2006, and she infamously received just $800,000 of his enormous inheritance, which was worth an estimated $600 million.
