Tottenham Hotspur in negotitions to sign Marcus Thuram

Spurs are looking at signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker/winger Marcus Thuram.

Tottenham have prioritised the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach striker/winger Marcus Thuram with negotiations at an advanced stage, according to reports from England.

Spurs are preparing for the potential departure of star striker and talisman Harry Kane, who has made public his desire to leave the North London club this summer.

According to reports, Thuram is set to leave the Bundesliga side during this summer transfer window and the player and his agents are speaking to Spurs over a potential transfer.

Thuram joined Gladbach in the summer of 2019 from the French side of Guingamp. He made an instant impact in Germany, scoring ten goals in his debut Bundesliga season as Gladbach finished in fourth place under Marco Rose. The French striker also showed excellent link-up play and formed a devastating partnership with countryman Alassane Plea at the Bundesliga club. However, this season Gladbach finished eighth in the Bundesliga and out of the European spots with Marco Rose also set to leave after being appointed as Borussia Dortmund manager. These factors could act as a catalyst in Thuram wanting to leave the German club.

Harry Kane on the other hand has had a terrific goal-scoring and playmaking season for Spurs as he scored 23 goals and racked up 14 assists in 35 appearances in the 2020/21 Premier League season. He has been linked with a move to rivals Manchester City as Spurs failed to win a trophy yet again this season.
