Roll out, robots! There are several new Autobots and Humans in the most recent and largest Transformers movie.
However, given that it leaves the door open for more Transformers films, the finale of Rise of the Beasts could have puzzled some fans. (And we’re still getting our bearings with the Maximals!)
Fortunately, we’ve covered all you need to know about the shadowy government agency that pops up at the conclusion of the Transformers movie. Here’s a breakdown of G.I. Joe. (Ending of Rise of the Beasts spoilers ahead!)
What is G.I. Joe in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts?
A fictitious elite clandestine special operations squad that works for the US Military, G.I. Joe is a secret government organisation that makes an appearance towards the conclusion of Rise of the Beasts.
At the conclusion of Rise, Noah encounters a guy posing as a hiring manager who eventually admits that he is well aware of Noah’s involvement with the Autobots in their battle against the Terrorcons. He extends an invitation for him to join the group and presents him with a business card bearing the G.I. Joe emblem.
The name does sound familiar, and you would be correct. A series of action films starring Channing Tatum that began in 2009 were based on the G.I. Joe franchise. (The G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra trailer may be seen below.)
They weren’t exactly considered among the greatest films ever made, and even though a sequel called Snake Eyes was released in 2021, you’d be excused for forgetting about them.
Hasbro, the same toy firm that created the Transformers figures, developed the small action figures that made G.I. Joe famous in the 1980s. Later, the idea would be transformed into comic books and animated shows.
The actual G.I. Joe unit is made up of many US Army men, each with their own unique set of vital skills. The G.I. Joe organisation, which brought together the efforts of the Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard, was a symbol of the American way of life.
It appears that the Transformers series is about to begin with a number of new films. Considering how Rise of the Beasts ended, G.I. Joe may have a significant impact on that.
