After achieving global fame for his role as Jacob Black in the Twilight saga, Taylor Lautner is set to return to the supernatural world in the upcoming Werewolf Hunter series on Amazon MGM Studios.
As reported by Variety and confirmed by Deadline, the series, titled Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter, will be a scripted production executive produced by and starring Lautner himself. The series is written by Daisy Gardner (known for Single Drunk Female) who will also serve as the showrunner.
The show takes a creative spin on Lautner’s life after Twilight, exploring a fictional narrative that diverges from his real-life hiatus from the spotlight. In this fictional version of events, Lautner isn’t just taking a break from Hollywood—he’s secretly training to become a werewolf hunter. The series plays on the public perception of Lautner’s retreat from fame and reimagines it as an extraordinary mission. Lautner is inducted into a secret society of werewolf hunters who recognize his unique abilities. While balancing his Hollywood career by day, he spends his nights fighting supernatural creatures—ironically battling the very monsters that helped make him famous.
The official description teases the show’s central conflict: “Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous. Between saving the world, reviving his career, and falling in love, he faces the ultimate question—’What happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?'”
The show is executive produced by Adam Londy of Tornante, along with Tarik Kanafani, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, and Tyler Gillett from Radio Silence. Amazon MGM Studios is producing.
Lautner, known for his portrayal of the werewolf Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga (2008–2012), is now stepping into a new role where he’s hunting the supernatural instead of being a part of it. Fans of the Twilight series can expect a new, action-packed chapter of Lautner’s career with this intriguing mix of Hollywood, werewolves, and a bit of meta-fun.
