On June 24, the microblogging giant Twitter informed that they have introduced an Indian Payment gateway Razorpay for its Tip Jar feature. This feature enables the user to send as well as receive money .
In the past month, the company have initiated this feature where a limited group of people namely creators, journalist, experts, and nonprofits who uses twitter in English could add Tip Jar to their profile to accept tips.
Twitter in a blogpost explained, “Through Razorpay’s interface, you will be able to support individual and organization across India via multiple modes of payment, including UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets and more.” It further added that they are working to establish more payment providers to the feature across the world. It too informed that this is the first among the several upcoming ways for the creators to monetize their content and earn money from their supporters.
Earlier as reported, the feature supported payment providers that involved Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal and Venmo among others.
The blog affirmed that everyone will be able to send tips to the applicable accounts on Twitter for iOS and Android through a third party payment services. Furthermore, it stated that it is an easy way and is an initial step to create new ways for people to receive and provide support on Twitter with money. It also asserted that people across the world will be able to add this feature in their profile very soon.
It further assured that with the Tip Jar one can select their preferable payment services and will be taken off Twitter to the selected app where the individuals can provide their support in the amount they choose. It confirmed that Twitter will take no cut.
