Twitter down: Thousands of users complain of the social media website and app

Thousands of users on Twitter have complained about the platform this afternoon. It has reported that over 4,000 users have complained of issues such as inability to retrieve tweets, missing timelines and followers disappearing on the Down Detector site.

It is still unclear what caused this problem. The social media platform is yet comment on it.

The reports suggests that the complain of Twitter’s outage began on Down Detector at 12.19 pm and have continued throughout the day. Couple of hours later, the same issues continue, which resulted in users getting frustated over it.

One of the users on the Down Detector wrote, “I can’t believe how long this has been going on for now,” and wrote, “This is just getting beyond a joke now.”

The users, who can still access Twitter, can witness that #TwitterDown and #RateLimitExceeded are the top two trending hashtags.

Apparently, the users have been receiving the message ‘rate-limit exceeded’ on their For You page, which is usually consisting of non-stop personal curated content. One such user wrote, “Dear Twitter, I am not rate limited as there is no limit-sort this out NOW!”

Many of the users are looking over to Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, for answers.
