Twitter locks out Chinese Embassy in US on post on Uighur women

Twitter has suspended the account of the Chinese Embassy in the US for a tweet related to Uighur women. The tweet defended the policies of Beijing government in the Xinjiang region. China is speculated to force the sterilization of Uighur women in the region.

The Twitter account @ChineseEmbinUS posted about a study reported by the state-backed newspaper China Daily that read Uighur women were no longer “baby-making machines.”

Twitter said that the tweet shared on January 7, violated its policy against “dehumanization”. The tweet was later removed by Twitter.

“We’ve taken action on the Tweet you referenced for violating our policy against dehumanization, where it states: We prohibit the dehumanization of a group of people based on their religion, caste, age, disability, serious disease, national origin, race, or ethnicity,” a Twitter spokesperson said on Thursday.
