Two Bengal women stripped half-naked over allegations of theft; Video surfaces days after Manipur incident

A few days after the horrifying video of two Kuki women being paraded naked, in Manipur, by a mob went viral on the internet, a new video has emerged online which shows two women were stripped half-naked and assaulted in broad daylight by a mob, in West Bengal. The incident reportedly took place in Pakuahat area of Malda district. However, the exact time of the incident is not yet known.

Reportedly, both the women were caught by the crowd on charges of theft, post which they were beaten up. It is clearly featured in the video that some women are launching a deadly attack on the victims and have also torn their sarees while beating them with their footwears.

West Bengal BJP Chief Dr Sukanta Majumdar took to his official Twitter handle and criticised the state government and also took a jibe at the Opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A.

As per Free Press Journal, local sources have identified the women as the residents of Manikchak. Despite the brutality endured by them, no formal complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident.

Responding to the allegations by Majumdar, WB minister and TMC leader Shashi Panja stated that a case has already been registered and police are probe is underway. He claimed that BJP is trying to politicize the Malda incident, where police had reached the spot when “a group of women tried to take law & order into their hands.”
