On Sunday, Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Mallikarjun Kharge appointed Uday Bhanu Chib as the General Secretary of the IYC, succeeding Srinivas Bhadravathi Venkata.
Chib posted a picture of himself with Rahul Gandhi last week, calling their encounter “memorable” and hailing Gandhi’s dedication to social justice, calling his hardship and tenacity an inspiration to millions. Chib was named National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) national secretary in December of last year. Chib is a native of Paloura, Jammu. He received his engineering degree from Pune University and his MBA from Arni University in Himachal Pradesh. He is the son of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee’s vice president, Hari Singh Chib.
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal quoted, “Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Shri Uday Bhanu Chib, currently General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and former President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, as the President of the Indian Youth Congress, with immediate effect.”
Chib is outspoken about the hardships faced by Jammu citizens, their inability to access basic services, and the urgent need for democratic government and political stability. Additionally, he has previously declared that “the Congress party is prepared to serve the people with dedication and integrity,” harshly criticising the current administration.
“These elections are a pivotal moment for the future of Jammu and Kashmir,” Chib stated in July, highlighting the significance of the approaching Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The kids must get involved and contribute to determining the course of our state. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he also emphasised the important role that young people played, as their fervent support bolstered the INDIA bloc throughout the nation.
