Union Budget 2021: Major Investments in Road & Highways

A budget of Rs 1,08,032 cr is allocated to the Road and Transportation ministry. A total of 8000 km of road projects is mentioned, till March.

The government plans to work on an 1100 km national highway work in Kerala with an investment of Rs 65,000 crore including 600 Mumbai Kanyakumari corridor in Kerala. The budget of Rs 19,000 Cr.is allocated for National highways in Assam. Rs 34000 crore is allocated for road infrastructure in Assam.

3000 km of road construction is completed already under Bharatmala Road Project. Highways in West Bengal are allocated Rs 25000 crore, which includes 675 km of highway work in the area.

The budget includes a national rail plan for future-ready railways. The Indian Railways are allocated a sum of Rs 1.10 lakh crore.

Government to provide Rs 18,000 crore for public buses.
