Union Budget has set the pace for India to become ‘Aatmanirbhar’ says Finance Minister

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is replying to the discussion on the Union Budget in Lok Sabha today. The Rajya Sabha has passed three bills in the past two weeks and was adjourned till March 8 yesterday. Today is the last day of the first part of the budget discussion session in Parliament.

The Finance Minister addressed the House and thanked all participants of the debate on the Union Budget. She said, “This budget has set the pace for India becoming ‘Aatmanirbhar’ (self-reliant).”

She provided details on the Health allocation. Finance Minister explained the inclusion of water and sanitation in Health allocation as the government’s approach towards public health. “9.67% growth is seen in the allocation to core health.”

The FM replied to the claims of the opposition as they accused the government of working only for the ‘cronies’, said the Centre’s schemes were for the poor.

FM Sitharaman said the budget draws experience from PM Modi when he was the CM of Gujarat as he saw many ‘revivals’ happening.
