Sachin Tendulkar the former Indian cricketer, has turned 48 this year. He is also an active member of the Rajya Sabha. The greatest of all time as per the cricket experts. He was born on 24th April 1973 and the youngest son of Rajni and Ramesh Tendulkar. His elder brother Ajit saw a cricketer in him and took him to Ramakant Achrekar, at Shivaji Park.

Throughout his 24 years of playing career, he has achieved everything that he dreamt of as a cricketer. He is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries and the first batsman to score a double century in an ODI. He holds the record for the most runs in both Test and ODI. He is the only player to complete 34,357 runs in international cricket.

• His father Ramesh Tendulkar, the father of the ‘Little Master’, was a fan of singer Sachin Dev Burman. So, when the cricketer was born on April 24, 1973, he choose to name him Sachin Tendulkar.
• When Sachin was just 14 years old, he was the ball boy during the 1987 World Cup match between India and Zimbabwe at the Wankhede Stadium.
• In 1988, Tendulkar fielded for Pakistan as a substitute for a one-day practice match against India.
• The first car of ‘The God of Cricket’ was Maruti 800.
• Tendulkar was the first international batsman to get out after a review by the third umpire in 1992.
• At the age of 19, Sachin became the youngest Indian to play for county cricket.
