Unlock guidelines: what’s opening today in Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu

With the steady fall in the count of COVID-19 cases in two months, several parts of India have now begun to resume its activities with all the precautions.


Uttar Pradesh: With the record of less than 600 cases in Varanasi, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Uttar Pradesh government allows the markets and shops outside containment zone to reopen five days in a week from 7am to 7pm. However, weekend and night curfew to still be in effect.

Delhi: In Delhi, Metro services to resume with 50% capacity, private offices allowed to run with 50% capacity, shops in malls, markets, standalone shops, neighborhood shops, complexes to resume in odd-even manner and timings.

Haryana: Lockdown extended till June 14 with an ease in several functions. Under the new guidelines, malls can stay open 10am to 8pm. Maximum of 21 people are allowed to gather in religious place at one time. Corporate offices can work with 505 capacity. Restaurants, bars, and club houses are allowed to function with 50% capacity from 10am to 8pm.

Maharashtra: The government of Maharashtra plans unlock in five-levels, depending on infection rate and occupancy of hospital beds.

  • In Mumbai, restaurants, shops selling non-essentials and public places will reopens today, Local trains in the city can carry only essential workers, Buses can run in full capacity but passengers cannot travel standing. Theatres, malls and multiplexes to remains shut as the metropolis falls under level-3.

Sikkim: Groceries, vegetables and hardware shops can now remain open from 7am to 2 pm. However, the statewide lockdown has been extended till June 14.

 Jammu and Kashmir: the administration has extended the lockdown in Union Territory till June 15. However, Jammu can begin unlock in a phased manner after nearly a month of lockdown.

Karnataka: The government of Karnataka said, the restrictions can be eased only when the state observes the COVID-19 positivity rate below 5%. However the state has extended lockdown till June 14.

 Tamil Nadu: extends lockdown for another week. However from today, except for 11 hotspots districts including Coimbatore, rest standalone grocery stores are eased to function from 6am to 5pm. Housekeeping staffs can return to complexes and apartments only with e-pass. Cabs with three passenger and Auto with two passengers can function as well with e-pass.
