Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandi Ben Patel has green signal to the ordinance put forward by the state concerning forceful religious conversions. The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religious Offence, 2020 comes into action in the state immediately. This law prohibits religious conversions by, “misinterpretation, fraud, undue influence, coercion, allurement or marriage” Violations of this ordinance would result in 10 years jail and if found done forcibly then considered as an non-bailable offence.
