Vicky Kaushal is experiencing one of the most transformative chapters of his life, both personally and professionally. At the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 awards held in Delhi, the actor was honoured with the Actor of the Year title for his performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. However, it was his heartfelt reflections on fatherhood that truly resonated with the audience.
Vicky, who welcomed a baby boy with wife Katrina Kaif in November, admitted that stepping away from his newborn for work was an emotional challenge. Accepting the award on stage, he shared that this was the first time he had travelled out of the city after becoming a father, calling the experience “very tough.” He added that he hopes his son will one day look back at the moment with pride.
Speaking candidly about this new role in his life, Vicky said that fatherhood still feels too fresh to define as a challenge. Instead, he described it as a phase filled with magic and calm, one that he is still trying to understand. The actor confessed that the emotions are difficult to express in words, calling the experience deeply special and a blessing for his entire family.
Lightening the mood, Vicky also joked that he is now “better at changing diapers than acting,” drawing smiles from the audience. The couple had announced the birth of their son through a heartfelt social media post, which received warm wishes from several celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana and Karan Johar. As Vicky balances accolades and diapers, he appears to be embracing fatherhood with gratitude and quiet joy.
