Vidya Balan reveals she was told to look younger than Shahid Kapoor in Kismat Konnection

In Bollywood, new on-screen couples are always warmly received. The film Kismat Konnection, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan in the key roles, exposed us to one such surprise jodi back in 2008.

The story of Raj Malhotra, also known as Shahid, an unlucky architect, and his lucky charm Priya, portrayed by Vidya, an unloved social activist, was the focus of the Aziz Mirza-directed film. Sadly, the movie didn’t do well at the box office, but fans really enjoyed the soundtrack. However, did you know that prior to filming, Vidya was advised to lose weight?

“There was this chatter that you have to look young if you want to work with some of the actors,” Vidya Balan said candidly in a recent interview with Filmfare. Someone contacted me and stated, “Shahid is two years younger than you, before I did Kismat Konnection.”

“Additionally, you are positioned across from him. You must therefore lose weight in order to appear even younger than he does.” Naturally, the world has changed since then. For those who are unaware, there is a two-year age difference between Shahid Kapoor (44), and Vidya Balan (46).

Shahid is currently working hard to prepare for Arjun Ustara, his upcoming film. Vishal Bhardwaj’s action thriller, which also stars Triptii Dimri in the major role, is said to be based on the life of mobster Hussain Ustara, who was notorious for his battle with Dawood Ibrahim.

In contrast, Vidya last appeared with Madhuri Dixit and Kartik Aaryan as Manjulika in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Due to her dramatic weight loss from an anti-inflammatory diet, Vidya made headlines around the time of the release of her horror comedy. Her next project has not yet been revealed.
