Speculation surrounding the casting of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana recently intensified after multiple reports suggested that Vikrant Massey had been dropped from the film and replaced by Raghav Juyal. The actor, however, moved quickly to dismiss the claims, clarifying that he was never associated with the project in the first place.
On Sunday, Massey took to Instagram Stories to respond to the reports, reposting one such article and calling the coverage “irresponsible.” In the now-deleted post, he stated that he was neither approached nor involved in the film at any stage. He also extended his best wishes to the team behind Ramayana, adding that he looked forward to watching the film in theatres. The reason behind the deletion of the clarification post remains unclear.
The rumours gained traction after reports claimed that Massey had been considered for the role of Meghanad, also known as Indrajit, the son of Ravana and the crown prince of Lanka. The speculation further escalated when Variety India reported that Raghav Juyal had joined the cast for the role.
According to the report, Juyal’s character will appear in Ramayana Part 2, which is slated for a Diwali 2027 release. It also suggested that Massey was initially in consideration for the role, but the plan did not materialise, following which Juyal was approached and agreed to come on board. The report added that the actor is expected to begin filming after recovering from an injury.
With Massey’s clarification contradicting these claims, the episode has once again highlighted how unverified casting reports can quickly spiral into widespread speculation around high-profile projects.
