Vikrant Massey’s humility has struck a chord with fans after an old video of him speaking about Shah Rukh Khan resurfaced online. The clip has gone viral at a time when the actor is being celebrated for winning his first National Film Award for Best Actor for 12th Fail.
The same honour was also bestowed on Shah Rukh Khan for Jawan, leading to natural comparisons between the two.
In the resurfaced interview, recorded just weeks before the award announcement, Vikrant had candidly addressed the idea of his work being compared to that of SRK.
He remarked, “It’s unfair. It’s unfair for him. I mean, he’s Shah Rukh Khan. Men like him and Amitabh Bachchan are legends. It’s really unfair for them to be compared to someone like me. They’re once in a generation, once in a millennial kind of people.”
Vikrant went on to add that no one could ever take the place of these icons. He said, “There will never be any other Shah Rukh Khan. There will never be another Amitabh Bachchan. So, it’s futile. I laugh it off. I don’t even take it seriously.” His words, filled with respect and humility, are now being shared widely across social media, with fans praising his grounded nature despite his rising success.
After being honoured at the 71st National Film Awards, Vikrant expressed his gratitude in a statement. He thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, NFDC, the jury members, and filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra for giving him the opportunity to shine in 12th Fail. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan had also shared his own message of gratitude, calling the award a moment he would cherish for a lifetime.
