Cillian Murphy’s 6-year-old encounter with Prince Harry has gone viral on social media.
Oppenheimer has made Murphy the talk of the town, so every video starring him, even if it is decades old, is gaining attention. The video depicting the two went viral not just because viewers were happy to see two celebrities from various walks of life conversing, but also because of the two’s evidently amusing dialogue.
Unfortunately, the audio-attached viral clip has been disproved after some investigation. In the video, the Oppenheimer actor shakes hands with Prince Harry, who then asks if he is British, to which the 47-year-old responds, “No, I’m Irish.” However, the Prince seemed to repeat, “Ah, yeah, I know British,” which was amusing. “No No No, there’s a big difference,” Murphy explained.

The camera cuts to the Duke of Sussex speaking to someone else, while the Irish actor glares at him playfully in the background. The video does not show Prince Harry’s mouth because of the camera angle. As a result, the altered audio and subtitles were simple to manipulate. This video contact between the actor and Prince Harry was later proven to be false.
The audio was extracted from a press interview for the film Inception in 2010, during which the actor and an interviewer discussed nationality. The interviewer referred to both Mr. Murphy and his co-star Tom Hardy as British during the interview.
However, it’s worth noting that Cillian Murphy was born in Douglas, Cork, and now lives in Dublin, having previously lived in London.
