Vishnu Manchu reveals dream cast for his shelved Ravana-centric Ramayana adaptation

Actor Vishnu Manchu has opened up about a long-standing passion project, a Ramayana adaptation told entirely from Ravana’s point of view. Though the film did not materialise due to budget challenges, Manchu shared that the script and dialogues have been ready for years.

In a recent interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, the Kannappa actor discussed the cast he envisions for the project. “The only person who immediately appears in my mind for the role of Lord Rama is actor Suriya,” he said, also naming Alia Bhatt as his ideal Sita.

The project, originally set to be directed by veteran filmmaker Raghavendra Rao, was supposed to feature Vishnu’s father as Ravana. “I approached Suriya in 2009 to play Ram, but the budgets didn’t work out,” he explained.

Vishnu also expressed his interest in playing Lord Hanuman but noted that Raghavendra Rao had suggested he portray Indrajeet instead. For that role, he would now prefer Suriya’s brother, Karthi.

He further revealed his choices for other key characters: Jr NTR’s brother Kalyan Ram as Lakshman, and Baahubali actor Sathyaraj as Jatayu. While the project remains uncertain, Manchu’s detailed vision highlights his deep connection to the story and characters.
