At Manchester United, Rooney was initially paying a minimum salary of £250,000 per week, which increased to £300,000 after the benefit of his commercial rights was factored in.

It was set to last till the summer of 2019, giving Rooney the opportunity to deposit over £30 million, but he instead opted to take pay cuts and return to Everton in search of first-team action.

Rooney was paid about £150,000 a week at Everton, which is also a significant sum for the Toffees. United permitted him to leave on a permanent deal rather than demanding a fee because his deal was too large. Before Paul Pogba signed a contract valued £290,000 per week in base pay, it was generally assumed that Rooney was the highest-paid footballer in the Premier League.

According to the MLS Player Association website, Rooney received $3.5 million (£2.6 million) a year as a Designated Player for D.C. United, which equates to about $70,000 a week.

According to the Sun, he is earning a comparable amount at Derby County, with the Championship club willing to match the star’s salary to keep him.

Rooney’s endorsements:

Rooney has a sizable presence in the advertising industry, bringing in £4.6 million per year solely from endorsements. Nike and Samsung are among his main clients. With his annual wage at Everton, Rooney earned an incredible £20 million in a single year, making him the 58th best paying athlete. From FIFA 06 to FIFA 12, he played in six consecutive editions of the EA Sports game series FIFA.

Rooney’s Investments:

Rooney owns many homes, including a £20 million house in Cheshire and a £5 million villa in Barbados. He also owns a number of luxury vehicles, including an Audi Q7, a BMW i8, and a Range Rover. He won’t be around to drive them, though, because he received a driving ban last year after pleading guilty to drunk driving in court.
